"You don't have to wait for perfect data. You can start and then iteratively improve.” ~Dr. Suvrit Sra, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
With an exponential global increase in data and the cost decrease of building artificial intelligence (AI) models, AI has and continues to transform the sector of the global economy. Claims are being made that AI is the “new electricity”.
With health systems collecting vast amounts of data, healthcare remains one of the fastest growing sectors of AI. Almost every facet of health systems and care delivery has been touched by AI. Machine learning (ML) algorithms are being deployed to optimize patient scheduling, inform clinical decision-making and diagnostics, research new drugs and vaccines, optimize supply chains and even plan human resourcing at service locations.
Tanzania, not wanting to be left behind, has joined the AI and data revolution.
The Tanzanian government has implemented many health systems in the last decade that are now collecting thousands of data points daily – more than enough data to begin implementing AI solutions. The government has also invested in internet and computing resources that allow for data to remain completely in-country during the development and deployment of AI technologies.
Through the generous support of the ELMA Foundation and their commitment to improving healthcare and health systems in Tanzania, Pendulum (formerly Macro-Eyes) partnered with inSupply Health and John Snow Institute to support the Ministry of Health in developing a Theory of Change/Theory of Action Framework. The goal of the document is to kickstart a discussion on how the Tanzanian government can begin implementing AI in health supply chains to improve health service delivery and increase population health.
The Theory of Change/Theory of Action framework was developed with inputs collected from various stakeholders representing the whole supply chain, including government, private suppliers, non-governmental organizations and academia. The document draws extensively on the experiences of Pendulum (formerly Macro-Eyes), John Snow Inc (JSI), and inSupply Health of building and implementing technology solutions in the Tanzanian health system.

Equity is not a goal, a set of metrics or a checklist. It is a way of being, a mindset, a practice. Equity is a Verb.

Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
